During a busy night of cup football, there were many shock results and the draw which followed has offered some highly competitive fixtures. Swindon, Crawley, Scunthorpe, Gillingham and Northampton all claimed the scalps of Championship opponents – Brighton, Millwall, Derby, Bristol City and Cardiff, respectively. With so many shock defeats, the second round looks highly intriguing, and there are some real opportunities for further progression in the competition. Leeds v Oxford

Sunderland v Morecambe

Norwich v Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe will travel to Carrow Road to face Premier League side Norwich City, whilst Swindon have been offered similar reward with a trip to the Britannia Stadium to battle with Stoke City. Crawley will once again take on Championship opposition as they host Bolton Wanderers, whilst similarly Northampton will host Wolverhampton Wanderers and Gillingham will welcome Middlesbrough to the Priestfield Stadium. Interestingly, no Premier League sides will meet each other in this round of the competition.

All fixtures will be played the week commencing August 27th.
